As we approach the end of the season I want to encourage all of our players to enjoy their remaining games and of course their training sessions. To those teams that have a chance at playing finals, I wish you great success and hope that all the hard training and persistence pays off. For those that aren’t in finals, I hope that you can play your best game of the season with your remaining game(s), putting into practice all that you have learnt and remembering how far you have come since the start of the season. Please take note below regarding games and training sessions impacted by the long weekend this weekend. In summary, there will be: no FlippaBall this Friday night;no Saturday training (for Juniors & Seniors) and no Juniors games on Monday night. Enjoy your long weekend and this mini break and get ready to finish the season on a high when training and games resume.
There is also information below with regards to end of season windups, so please take note of the dates and details.
I personally want to congratulate those club members who participated in the Rottnest Channel swim. I am truely impressed and stand in admiration of your achievement! Well done to you all.
Lastly, I would like to say a big thank you to the following families who assisted with running the 2 fundraiser BBQs we held at FlippaBall during February.:
It is wonderful to watch how our enthusiastic flippa ballers continue to go from strength to strength with regards to their skills and understanding of the game. As the season progresses it is really great to see some of our older flippa ballers stepping up and filling in for some of our junior league teams. This is a great opportunity for them to get a taster of the exciting next level and to experience a more competitive level of play against other clubs.
We have three Friday night Flippa ball games left this season on:
16th March (BBQ roster)
The final training session on 22nd March will be our wind up combining training and presentations as the following week is Easter.
I have listed a few key dates below to put in your diary!
1st March – Training as usual
2nd March – NO Flippa Ball on the March Long Weekend!
16th March – Newman BBQ night (Volunteers wanted!)
18th March – WAWPAI U12 Flippa ball Carnival at HBF Stadium (see below)
22nd March – Final training session – Wind up and Presentations
23rd March – Final Friday night game
The Carnival on the 18th is a great opportunity to play against a number of metropolitan and regional clubs at the Flippa ball level. This carnival is for those born 06/07/08 and there will be no charge for registration, only the cost of pool entry.
We have registered one Flippa Ball team from Newman Water Polo Club to participate in this event. Please email Claire and Kerrie at email@example.com if you are interested so we can finalise the team.

6:15pm start for years 5 & 6
NO GAMES 2 MARCH !
Thursdays @ Newman Pool 3:30 to 4:30 pm
For BBQ Duties at Flippa ball game night on 16th March
There is no Training for Juniors on Saturday 3rd March and no games on Monday 5th March due to long weekend.
Countdown to Finals
Just one more match before the finals start & it is amazing how far our players have progressed. For our youngest teams please do not feel disillusioned by not winning many games as the first year of Juniors is about learning the game/rules, getting swim fit & building on basic water polo skills. Our coaches are very proud of the improvement they have seen in the pool.
Newman have the following teams in contention for a finals place:
U14B Girls (Waves) – currently 5th and play 4th place for a finals spot
U16B Girls (Pearls) – currently 3rd
U16B Boys (Orcas) – currently 1st & hopefully will beat Phantoms to maintain 1st place
U16A Girls (Barbarians) – currently 4th & should maintain 4th but a win against City Beach Cubs would secure it.
Semi Finals will be played on Monday 19th March & Grand Finals on Sunday 25th March. Please come along and support our teams that make the finals. The Grand Final Schedule can be found here.
Our Juniors windup will take place at Newman Pool on Sunday 25th March following the Grand Final, starting at 4:30pm to 6pm. So save the date! There will be complimentary burgers & drinks for all Junior players & parents/siblings can purchase at a small cost. More details to follow.
Last Saturday Monique (Rays), Charlotte & Jessica (Barbarians) and Rebecca (Phantoms) braved sinking boats and a shark alert to successfully swim over 19km to Rottnest. What an awesome effort. Thank you also to their support team (including Jocelyn and Anne – Rays).
